This director, who graduated from the Unviersidad del Cine in Buenos Aires, Argentina began her career with a long list of critically aclaimed shorts. Furthermore she worked for many years as a production assistant in many nationally made films until she received financing to film her opera prima Muscial Chairs in 2002.

 

After the success of her first film, she worked as a screenwriter, producer and actor in various films. She directed her second movie, A Stray Girlfriend, in 2006, in which she also starred. In 2011, she released a comedy titled Los Marziano that deals with topics, common in most of her films such as family life and relationships.

 

In September of 2015 she released her latest film, My Friend from the Park, with Julieta Zylberberg which incorporates many anecdotes from her personal experience as a firs time mother in the city of Buenos Aires. When asked if this is a feminist film, Katz responded:

 

Me cuestan las etiquetas, son funcionales a que te quedés en un lugar. Prefiero hablar de personas. Pero hay algo que todavía se posterga, la subjetividad de la mujer. La mujer graciosa, confusa, ridícula, esa parte que tiene que ver con el acercamiento sutil a cuestiones femeninas. Te dicen “no, hablemos de tus derechos, de las cosas importantes, no vengas con boludeces”. Esta película no habla de una mujer a la que le sacan el hijo que no puede tenerlo, es una que está confundida. (Clarín)
