ABOUT ME
My academic articles and reviews have been published as book chapters (Writing Revolution, and Faraway Settings) and included in specialized journals such as Espéculo: Revista de Estudios Literarios, Ámbitos Feministas, Comedia Performance, Dioniso: Revista de Investigación, Creación y Crítica Teatral, and Crítica Bibliographica.

My research focuses on cultural studies, literature, pedagogy, women writers, and female fictional characters. Other research interests include film studies, performance studies, digital humanities, narrative and identity, and the representation of women in multimedia. Passionate about teaching, I take my research into my classes by opening bridges that connect nowadays students’ interests with Spanish texts, language, and culture. Both my online and in person classes include the use of technology and a variety of digital applications that keep the students engaged and productive while developing their creative and analytical skills.

I also conceived the idea, organization and design for the Latam-Films website and its sister pages Latam-Directors and Latam-Movies.

Tireless traveler, I have lived in four different countries and I have visited more than 30 nations across four continents. I have participated in many Study Abroad experiences taking students to Spain, Argentina, and Mexico. My volunteer work in an orphanage in Guatemala keeps me very involved with the education of impoverished children from indigenous populations.

I recently presented at the Renaissance Society Association Annual Conference, as well as the Hong Kong Conference on Comparative Perspectives of Early Modern Theater. My future plans include giving talks about innovative ways to present classical texts in the 21st century at the AHCT Annual Conference in El Paso, Texas, and the Almagro International Festival in Spain.
If you work on some of my research topics or if you are just interested in discussing some pedagogical ideas, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me (mdoming3@asu.edu).
